Prepare your interior design brief
What should I share about my interior design project?
List the rooms, how you use them, furniture you want to retain and examples of finishes you like. Include approximate dimensions and your priorities for layout and storage.
What should the quotation explain?
Separate design fees, purchasing, delivery and installation. Ask whether proposed furniture and finishes are firm selections or allowances, and how substitutions are approved.
Can I start without a final budget?
Yes. Share your priorities and a working range if you have one. Homeowners pay no introduction fee to NWA Market Builder; contractor and design services are quoted separately. A project price requires a defined scope and assessment of the site.

PLAN THE DETAILS
What a interior design scope should include
Define whether you need room planning, finish selection, lighting coordination, furniture sourcing or a complete installation. A useful proposal identifies the rooms, drawings or visual concepts, number of revisions, purchasing responsibilities and installation services. Confirm delivery, storage, returns and trade installation costs separately.
Timing: plan the stages before the start date
Start with a design and selection phase, followed by approvals, ordering and installation. A consultation or small styling project is different from a furnished home: custom furniture, cabinetry, fabric and overseas orders can extend procurement to months. Ask for item-by-item lead times and alternatives before committing to an installation date.
A local project brief to help you get started
Illustrative Bentonville living-room brief: map circulation and furniture sizes first, then compare upholstery, rugs, lighting and window treatments around everyday use. Retain suitable existing pieces and identify any electrical work before ordering the final scheme.
This is an illustrative planning example, not a claimed completed project. For published partner work, see the credited portfolio.
Can you work with furniture we already own?
Include photographs, dimensions and a list of pieces you want to keep in your brief. The designer can assess scale, condition and how those pieces fit the proposed layout before recommending new purchases.
